K2 Duo

The K Duo is a violin-piano ensemble formed by violinist Michael Klyce and pianist Helena Hyesoo Kim. They have performed across the United States and are noted for their powerful tone, collaborative sensitivity, and vibrant musical dialogue. 

The K2 Duo takes an innovative approach to programming. Each program is thoughtfully structured, featuring a mix of canonical works and underrepresented voices both historical and contemporary. When appropriate, programs push beyond traditional classical etiquette through the inclusion of interactive and theatrical elements, which help to foster audience engagement. In addition, a narrative thread weaves each program’s works into a musical tapestry to ensure a cohesive and satisfying audience experience.

Both artists bring extensive experience as performers and educators. As a pianist, scholar, and arts administrator, Kim curates the duo’s programming while Klyce draws on his experience in a variety of artistic disciplines to create a dynamic and versatile musical and stage presence. Together, they have been praised for their sonorous and passionate performances.
